About the Podcast
Welcome to the It Gets Good Podcast where we’ll be discussing our favorite books with you and giving you countless recommendations for your TBR! We’re your hosts, Hannah, Micaela and Kyleigh; just a few best friends that bonded over our love for reading and talking endlessly about the books that we can’t get enough of. Stick around to hear our thoughts & opinions, we promise it gets good.
Tell us about yourself/selves.
HM&K: It Gets Good is hosted by three best friends – Hannah, Micaela, and Kyleigh – who share a love of reading and enjoy having great conversations about books. Hannah works in early childhood education as a preschool and childcare director, Micaela is a mortgage closer/funder, and Kyleigh is an entrepreneur and content creator. When we’re not working or reading, you’ll usually find us playing games, eating ice cream, or making the most of Michigan summers. Our friendship is at the heart of everything we do, and we love inviting listeners to feel like they’re part of the conversation.
How did you get started with The Podcast?
HM&K: In June 2022, Kyleigh invited Hannah and Micaela over on a whim for what she called a “reading night.” And yes, we literally just got together to read. It quickly became a weekly tradition, giving us time to catch up and talk about the books we couldn’t stop thinking about. After a few months, one of us asked, “Should we start a podcast?!” That simple question turned into something much bigger. That Christmas, Kyleigh surprised us with our very first podcast mics, and by the following spring, It Gets Good officially launched. What started as three friends reading together has grown into a community of readers we get to share our love of books with every week.
How would you describe your podcast?
HM&K: If you asked our listeners, they’d probably describe It Gets Good as cozy, funny, a little chaotic, and like hanging out with your best friends. We like to call it “semi-organized chaos.” While we definitely talk about books, our conversations naturally wander into life, friendship, pop culture, and plenty of laughter along the way. Whether we’re passionately debating a plot twist or getting completely sidetracked, our goal has always been to create a space that feels warm, relatable, and welcoming. We hope listeners leave every episode feeling like they just spent an hour with friends who love books as much as they do.
What’s the most challenging and most satisfying part of running a podcast?
HM&K: After three years, one of the biggest challenges is continuing to create fresh, engaging content for our listeners. We never want to become repetitive. We’re always looking for new ways to entertain our audience while introducing them to books they’ll love. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of new releases, and we also love uncovering hidden backlist gems that deserve more attention.
The most rewarding part is hearing from our listeners after a new episode drops each Wednesday. Messages like, “I was laughing the whole way to work” or “Today’s episode is my new all-time favorite” or “I felt like I was sitting down and giggling with my friends,” remind us exactly why we started the podcast. Knowing we’ve created a space where people can laugh, unwind, and feel connected makes all the work behind the scenes worth it.
What’s one of your favorite episodes?
HM&K: Choosing just one favorite feels impossible! Some of our best episodes are actually the ones where we don’t have much planned. Those conversations tend to be the funniest because they give us room to go on tangents, create new inside jokes with our listeners, and simply enjoy spending time together. While we love diving into books, it’s often those unfiltered moments of laughter and friendship that end up becoming our favorites.
What’s your uploading schedule, and what can we expect from talking book publishing in the upcoming months?
HM&K: We release a new episode every Wednesday, and we’re proud to say we haven’t missed a single week in more than three years! Consistency has always been important to us, and we love knowing our listeners can count on a new episode every Wednesday morning.
The next several months are shaping up to be an exciting time for readers. We’re eagerly anticipating the next installment in Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series—we’ve been waiting (somewhat impatiently!) since A Court of Silver Flames was released in 2021. We’re also looking forward to several highly anticipated book-to-screen adaptations. Since our book club theme this year has been adaptations, we’ll be reading, reviewing, and discussing releases like Sense and Sensibility, Verity, Sunrise on the Reaping, and more. It’s going to be a fun season for book lovers, and we can’t wait to experience it all alongside our listeners.
Where can listeners find it gets good pocast?
HM&K: You can listen to It Gets Good wherever you get your podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more. We also love connecting with our community on social media, where we share book recommendations, behind-the-scenes moments, and updates on upcoming episodes. No matter where you listen, we’d love to have you join us every Wednesday!
